Our Charism

Our particular gift of the Spirit

"..the Most High Himself made it clear to me that I must live the life of the Gospel" (Testament of St Francis)

As Franciscans - Our life is formed around a 'common heart' rather than a common task or a specific place. This heart is shaped by the gospel vision of Francis and Clare of Assisi who believed in bringing the Good News of Jesus to the people they encountered, particularly to the most marginalised and outcast of society.

As Missionaries - "We are ready to be sent to any country, culture or community. Being peacemakers, realising that the manner in which we serve is more important than the type of work we are doing." (taken from 'Charism, Community, Mission - A Call to Conversion')

As Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood - "We are called to participate in the mission of Jesus in a special way. Our charism encourages us to conceive, birth and nurture the life of Christ - in our hearts, in our communities, and in the people we encounter each day. We are one in mission though our ministries are diverse." (taken from 'Authentic Franciscan Living')

Our inspiration and model is Mary, who was totally receptive to the Word of God.
