Our Life of Prayer

Our relationship with God is deepened and nurtured by our loving response in prayer. In prayer we find the strength and guidance to lead a life of conversion of heart and to embrace God's will as it is unfolded to us. Whether we are alone with God, with Him in community or in our ministry, we can accept His invitation to pray always.

ChapelWe participate in the Eucharist each day, where this is possible. We share with St Francis a deep love and reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. We also celebrate morning and evening prayer in community, sharing how the Word of God has touched us each day.

We prepare our minds to listen to God in prayer by reflective reading of the Scriptures and the study of authentic sources of Christian spirituality.

As Christ habitually went apart to pray to the Father and as Mary pondered the Word in the silence of her heart, we too spend time alone every day with God in personal prayer. Each month we set aside a day for reflection and prayer as well as an annual retreat.

The spiritual vitality of the Congregation depends on the prayerful response of each one of us. St Francis was convinced that the grace of prayer was something a religious should long for above all else, in order to deepen her relationship with Jesus Christ. (Taken from the FMDM Rule of Life)

A Prayer of St Francis

“Hold back nothing of yourself for yourself
so that He who gives himself
totally to you
may receive you totally.”
