BRINGING FORTH CHRIST IN OUR BEAUTIFUL BUT BROKEN WORLD
Living Our FMDM Charism Into The Future
We reaffirmed the relevance of our Charism (Spirit) for out Beautiful but Broken
World and committed ourselves to continue discerning its expression for the 21st
century.
“Our Charism, received from Francis, commits us to an unconditional
following of Christ poor and crucified, to a life of continual conversion.”
(FMDM Constitution 2)
Growing In Our Franciscan Way Of Life
As Franciscan women committed to living by the Word and striving to live in right
relationships, we call ourselves to continual conversion - in simplicity and in
faithfulness to Gospel values.
“Hold back nothing of yourselves for yourselves, so that He
who gives himself totally to you may receive you totally!”
(Francis’Letter to the Entire Order 29)
Franciscan Servant Leadership
We committed ourselves to exploring the spirituality and implications of
Franciscan Servant Leadership for our lives in the 21st Century.
Servant Leadership as modelled by Jesus as he washed the disciples’ feet.
“Let them neither dominate nor seek power over one another, but
let them willingly serve and obey each other with genuine love.”
(The Rule of Francis 25)
Responding To The Needs Of Our Beautiful But Broken World
We re-affirmed that each of us, irrespective of our age, health or
circumstances, share in Christ’s Mission. We will channel our energies
and resources primarily for the voiceless and vulnerable, especially at
this time women and children, those affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic
and trafficked persons.
“We rejoice that as missionaries we are sent to proclaim
the Good News and to serve God in all creation.”
(FMDM Constitution 3)
Our Chapter document finishes with the following prayer as we move
forward in trust and faith that God will fulfil the Dream in us if we truly
desire to
Bring Forth Christ In Our Beautiful But Broken World.
Toward all that is unsolved in your heart, be patient.
Try to love the questions.
Do not seek the answers which cannot be given.
You would not be able to live them.
Live everythinLive the questions now.
You will, without noticing it,
live into the answers some
distant day.
(Rainer Maria Rilke)
